Postpartum Doula Services

Congratulations! Your new baby is home!

Now what?

Coming home with a new baby and especially those first few weeks can be overwhelming. Emotions combined with lack of sleep can lead to stress, depression and tension in the home.

“Will I sleep again?”

“What is sleep training, and does it work?”

“Is my baby getting enough food? Sleep?”

“How and when do I bathe my baby?”

“Why won’t my baby stop crying?”

As a postpartum doula, my focus is on supporting parents, helping them to care for and understand their newborn. While I do not assume total care of the baby, I do teach and encourage parents to interpret and learn their baby’s cues, and to trust their instincts in responding to and meeting their baby’s needs. I know I have done my job well when parents no longer need me or need me less often. As a mother of three, an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) and former childcare provider, I have learned to provide unbiased support while you learn to navigate into parenthood. As a doula having assisted at well over 275 births, I offer breastfeeding assistance, mother care, emotional support and proven experience in understanding newborns. I teach newborn care and effective ways to soothe your baby.

Additionally, I offer light housekeeping and laundry, meal preparation and a shoulder on which to lean. In the event that you are looking for a nighttime or overnight doula, I offer a 10 pm to 6 am shift on a case-by-case basis. This would allow you to get a block of sleep while I care for your baby (or babies) while not interrupting their feeding schedule. In addition, I have information and referrals for the many resources available for families.

I charge $25-$35 an hour for daytime hours, with a minimum commitment of three hours.
